Auszug aus: dnpbackstage - THE REAR PROJECTION MAGAZINE
(Spring 98):
Powerful
projectors and optical rear projection screens have proved to be a very
effective formula in the fast growing simulation market. Many dnp installers
have already seen this window of opportunity and are launching new competitive
simulation solutions. In this issue of dnp Backstage we have looked at
this new market trend.
The virtual flight tower
The market for rear projection simulation solutions is definitely growing
as we can see by inquiries from all over the world. Historically, the
market has been dominated by front projection systems. But in modern simulations
you need bright images in high-light environments - where operators can
move around the installation without casting shadows on the screen. And
this is where rear projection gets into the picture, says Achim Hannemann,
General Manager of SCREEN.NT.
The innovative German AV Company has recently designed a new rear projection
tower for simulation applications. In 1996 SCREEN.NT supplied their first
simulation solution - a computer network simulation system for the Deutsche
Bank. And in 1997, the company installed their first air control simulation
for the air traffic control simulation solution for the air control simulation
for the air traffic control centre in Washington D.C.
Achim Hannemannn explains:
Due to increase in air traffic and population there is a growing need
for aviation security and traffic safety. One of the solutions is modern
training and simulations facilities. By using large rear projection displays
it is possible to create very realistic traffic control situations- even
in high ambient light conditions. The special design of the SCREEN.NT
tower allows you to create a simulation environment with a true 360°
viewing angle by installing the towers in a circle.
SCREN.NT´s rear projection towers are based on Barco LCD or Hughes-JVC
light valve projectors and dnp Wide Angle Screens. The towers are available
in sizes from 67" - 200" in different colours, dimensions, brightness
and resolution. SCREEN.NT towers are available as a fixed installation
or as a mobile retrobox system. Towers for 3D simulation are under construction.

SCREEN.NT´s
air traffic simulation solution was presented to the public at a fair
in Washington. At Hughes aircraft stand, SCREEN.NT installed a realistic
flight tower environment with computers and control consoles. The
design of the two 120" tower displays creates a convincing illusion
of windows. |
